Series consists of information on the reduction of Commonwealth Forces in the Far East and the changing of bases through various sectors, mainly in the Korea mission of correspondence, memoranda, studies and recommendations, army unit list. Documents are between 8th of September 1953 to the 9 of October 1957, and include correspondence, memoranda, studies and recommendations and army unit listof October 1957.

Series 16 was formerly part of the Kardex Collection and was catalogued under the reference number 112.3M2.009 (D145).
General note
In response to the invasion of South Korea by North Korea, in 1950, the United Nations passed a resolution on the 27th of June 1950, 17 countries defended South Korea from North Korea. The Commonwealth Security Forces was created in 1950, to coordinate the commonwealth countries in the Korean War. The principal countries included: Australia, New-Zealand, United Kingdom and Canada. Two more countries assisted also as minor participant: India and South Africa. After the military Armistice Agreement of July 1953, the numbers of troops were decreases. The last troops left in 1957, ending a seven-year security mission witch operated under a United Nation’s mandate.
