Scope and content

Fonds consists of Martin's field notes, bird observation journals and bird checklists, documenting sightings in the Toronto area, as well as newspaper clippings and other records. The journals and field notes document bird sightings, observations on bird behaviour and the weather, and include information on Martin's field companions. Later entries provide narratives of field trips. Included in the fonds are clippings of James L. Baillie Jr.'s newspaper column titled 'In Birdland' as well as other clippings related to birds. Additionally, there are a few items relating to Martin's participation in the Toronto Field Naturalists' Club, copies of Martin's bookplates, and a handwritten copy of a poem titled 'The Legend of Grenadier Pond.' Fonds is comprised of the following series: SC 42-1: Bird observation records SC 42-2: Miscellaneous records
