Copies of Dr. Bell's 'Home Notes', 'Contribution to Knowledge' and records related to the telephone were assembled by Dr. Gilbert Hovey Grosvenor, Bell's grandson, in 1977 and deposited at the Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Park. Copies of materials created by Alexander Graham Bell and John Hamilton Parkin and by Bell and Frederick Walker Baldwin in relation to hydrofoil experiments and other joint work were donated to the Alexander Graham Bell Historic Park in 1978 by the Aero Library of The National Research Council of Canada. The majority of photographs and those known as the 'Kite Museum' photographs, and a collection of Bell's journals were donated to the Park circa 1977 by Bell's daughters.

Scope and content

an extensive collection of Alexander Graham Bell's personal and experimental notes, journals, drawings, and correspondence, including letters to Helen Keller. Also included are photographs of the Bell family and some of Bell's experiments and scientific work. Bell family letters, correspondence between Mabel Bell and her cousin Mary Blachford, telegrams and Bell's mother's journal and Mabel Bell's journals are also included in this fonds. Experimental notes consists of 'Home Notes', 'Lab Notes', 'Contributions to Knowledge', dictated notes and the 'Beinn Bhreagh Recorder'. The 'Home Notes' consist of journals regarding scientific work combined with notes regarding Bell's daily personal life. The 'Lab Notes' related mostly to experimental work and some notes related to the telephone. The 'Beinn Breagh Recorder' was a name given to a set of journals kept by Bell while working at his Baddeck home. The journals consist of experimental notes and photographs and family photographs. Also included are Aerial Experiment Association (AEA) Bulletins and minutes, covering the two years it existed. Most of the family correspondence has been arranged by creator or subject. Bell's poems and Mabel's journals have been arranged by Gilbert Grovener.

The majority of the Alexander Graham Bell and family papers are held by the Library of Congress, Washington D.C. This includes family correspondence, Dr. Bell's Contributions to Knowledge, Home Notes, Lab Notes, Dictated Notes, Additional Thought and Experiments, Telephone Experiments, Bulletins of the Aerial Experiment Association (AEA), AEA minutes, Beinn Bhreagh Recorder, Kite Experiment notes, miscellaneous telephone related records, and a honour conferred on Dr. Bell. Original records created by Dr. Bell and John Hamilton Parkin related to hydrofoil experiment and patents, Beinn Bhreah Lab notes, notebooks and correspondence are held by the Aero Library of the National Research Council of Canada.
