Alice Duckett was born on March 27, 1903 in Hucknall, Nottinghamshire, England to John Henry and Florence Ellen (Mettam) Duckett. The family emigrated to the United States in 1903. In 1904, John Duckett relocated to a homestead near Perdue, North-West Territories; his family joined him in 1905. Subsequently, the family relocated to North Battleford in 1914 and Regina in 1917. Alice Duckett graduated from Central Collegiate, Regina, in 1920. In 1922, she attended Normal School in Regina, then began her teaching career in Radville where she taught until 1925. She also studied drama at Northwestern University in Evanston, Illinois during the summer of 1925. She retuned to Regina in 1926 and from then until 1932 taught at Wetmore School. During these years, Duckett also performed in various productions of the Regina Little Theatre.

Alice Duckett met Harold Slanson Perry, an American engineer working in Regina, in January, 1932. They married in April of that year, relocated to the United States and eventually settled in Emporia, Kansas. Their daughter, Floredeth, was born in 1939. Alice Perry earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the College of Emporia in May, 1944. After the death of Harold Perry in 1943, Alice and Floredeth returned to Regina. In 1944, Alice resumed her teaching career at Balfour Technical School.

At Balfour, Perry taught commercial classes and was heavily involved in the school's drama program. She spent the 1958-1959 school term on a sabbatical in Great Britain where she studied educational theory and youth drama programs. She retired from Balfour in 1964; however, she continued teaching for one more year at St. Chad's College. In 1972, Perry was a teacher in a pilot program focused on keeping teen mothers in school. This program would later be known as the Balfour Special Tutorial Program.

Throughout her retirement years, Perry was involved in various activities and organizations, including: the Unitarian Fellowship and Unitarian Universalist Women's Federation; the University Women's Club of Regina; the University of Regina's Seniors' Education program; Intercultural Grandmothers Uniting; the Regina chapter of the Superannuated Teachers of Saskatchewan; and the Raging Crones. She also enjoyed travel, the theatre, and time spent at her "Periwinkle" cottage at B-Say-Tah. Alice Perry died in Regina on September 4, 2002.
