Biographical history
Charles "Chuck" Clayton Coffen was born at St. John's, Newfoundland in 1939. In 1956 he graduated from Memorial University and joined the Royal Canadian Navy. Chuck was awarded his pilot's wings in 1961. He remained in the RCN throughout the 1960s to further his pilot's training. He continued to fly in the 1970s and also began working in administrative positions at various bases including CFB Toronto, CFB Trenton, CFB Shearwater. He worked as Staff Intelligence Officer at Norfolk, VA. Coffen spent the remainder of his career as Wing Administration Officer at CFB Shearwater. He retired in 1994 and lives in Dartmouth, Nova Scotia.

Fonds consists of four photographs of Chuck Coffen in flight gear, pilot's notes for the tracker aircraft, handbooks used by Coffen while aboard the HMCS Bonaventure and several squadron histories.
