The booklet, compiled by members of Division One, Brechin Superior School, under the supervision of a teacher D.E. Brecenridge, contains illustrated historical articles with hand-drawn advertisements for local businesses.

The fonds consists of records of Arthur and Alice Leighton relating primarily to activities and military service in World War I. Fonds includes correspondence and financial records of the Leightons, and military records of Arthur Leighton, created during the war years. Fonds also includes childhood correspondence of Arthur Leighton relating to his schooling and activities as a youth, and some records of activities of the Leightons after the war. Fonds also consists of photographs of the Leightons, the Wright family, Arthur Leighton's service in the Boer War and World War 1, sporting activities including cricket and golf and social activities. Fonds is arranged in seven series: 1) Legal documents and certificates; 2) Personal correspondence; 3) Financial records; 4) Building records; 5) Travel; 6) Military records; and 7) Photographs.

The fonds consists of a signed copy of the "Coal Mines of Nanaimo"; a copy of a report on surveys in Nanaimo written by Leynard; a file on Nanaimo's Coat of Arms; drawings of gun carriages and dimensions of Bastion cannons and four photographs including views of the H & W Market, a parade and a meeting of the Native Sons. Also includes Paul Leynard's (Arthur's father) membership card for the X-Ray Association of Employees of Western Fuel Company and certificate for free use of the X-ray machine and a letter to Arthur from Hiram Gough in native "trade language".

Also includes memorabilia from other lodges including Concord Lodge No. 79 (Parksville), Hiram Lodge No. 14 (Courtenay), St. John's Lodge No. 21 (Ladysmith), Nanaimo Lodge No. 110 and Chemainus Lodge No. 114.

Basil and Edythe Hartley fonds

Fonds consists of audio, video, and visual materials created by Basil and Edythe Hartley. Materials include video footage of the Haisla people, which Hartley shot while working in Kitimaat from 1941-1944, a voiceover for the footage which Hartley’s widow, Edythe McClure, created in ca. 1983, a letter, and three photographs of Kitimaat people and landscapes. The three audio cassettes all contain the same 1983 recording.
