Alice Borden fonds

The fonds consists of correspondence, essays, diaries, financial records and notes created by Borden as both as a student and through her teaching career from kindergarten instructor through to university professor of early childhood education. Fonds contains administrative details about the establishment and operation of UBC's Child Study Centre and also includes minutes and reports from the Faculty of Education.

The fonds consists of lectures, papers, proposals, reports, correspondence, clippings, published materials, photographs and one audio tape relating to Rice's research and publishing activities, her work with various professional associations, and advocacy for the professional regulation of midwifery in B.C. The fonds also contains correspondence, reports, memoranda, minutes and other administrative records from Rice's involvement with the Nurse Midwifery Service at Grace Hospital. The fonds has been arranged into the following series: Education (1980-1, 1993); Published Writing, Proposals, Lectures and Research Materials (1977-2002); Nurse Midwifery Service (1983-1991); Professional Associations (1976-1992); Professional Regulation of Midwifery (1978-1999, predominant 1987-1997); UBC Midwifery Degree Program (2000-2001) and Audio (1997).

Also included is the Arts Collection sous-fonds (1955-1998) and the Programs Office sous-fonds (1975-2001).

Andrew Hutchinson fonds

Fonds consists of course materials, correspondence, subject files, reports, clippings, printed material, and index cards, relating to Hutchinson's work with the UBC Department of Biology and Botany. The fonds reflects his research interests which included studies of conifers, forest ecology and tree genetics, particularly of the Douglas fir; to a limited extent his personal life is also documented. The fonds also includes approximately 3,600 photographic negatives and prints (most black and white, some in colour), 1,200 lantern slides, and some transparencies. The photographs are mainly microscopic images of plants and trees in British Columbia, Mexico, Cuba, Florida and South Africa in the early part of the twentieth century. There is also a photograph album accompanying Hutchinson's report Grazing Lands in British Columbia. Finally, there are a number of maps, charts, and diagrams, which are listed and stored separately.

The fonds consists of records relating to the planning, administrative, fundraising, promotional, documentary and curatorial activities of the Artropolis exhibitions. These materials include: budgets, grant applications, proposals, research files and site plans; correspondence, financial statements, fundraising letters, logos, licenses and contracts, employee and volunteer files, minutes and reports; press releases and sponsorship agreements, banners, brochures and posters; and artists’ résumés and applications, attendance records, comment books, exhibition catalogues, scrapbooks, photo albums, photographs, video recordings, and artwork.

The records are arranged into the following sous-fonds: Artropolis 87 (1984 - 1990); Artropolis 90 (1987 - 1991); Artropolis 93 (1990, 1992 - 1993); Browser Artropolis 97 (1992, 1997 - 1998); Artropolis 2001 (1988, 1999 - 2001); Artropolis 2003 (1988, 1992, 2001 - 2005).
