This fonds consists of photographs and textual records created and or received by the Matthew Wells Company in Guelph, Ontario during the course of their business activities. The photographs include aerial shots of the plant in Guelph and of one based in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island. There is also a photograph of the plant’s employees, a woman’s sport team and of the company’s products such as bottles of jams and jellies likely used for promotional or advertisement purposes. The textual components consist of the company’s stationary, examples of labels for use on their products, payment vouchers and a booklet entitled, NPPA Sponsored Fundamental Research Unraveling the Mysteries of Pickling, 70 Years of Progress: The Pickle Fair. This fonds consists of records related mainly to the academic research and writings of Jeffrey Cook. Records include correspondence, newspaper clippings, articles, research notes and draft writings. Areas of research include Hungarian and Eastern European organic architecture (including research on Imre Makovecz), and research on Frank Lloyd Wright and the FLW School of Architecture. Also included is a set of The Brochure Series of Architectural Illustration from 1899-1901 and a facsimile edition of William Blake’s Songs of Innocence.

Collection consists of city directories, which since 1875, have made up of two parts: an alphabetic listing of people’s last names giving their occupation and home address and of street names. The directories may also contain advertisements of local area businesses and brief facts on population and average household income. Earlier directories included communities other than Guelph such as Erin, Peel, Minto and Puslinch Townships.

Land deeds and mortgages collection - Guelph Public Library

Collection consists primarily of deeds and mortgages pertaining to land and administrative transactions in the Guelph area. Many of the records in this collection deal with the properties located on lot 13 Albert Street of the Thompson Survey or with properties on lots 48 and 49 on the north side of Quebec Street.

This collection also contains records related to the property at 72 Macdonell Street consisting of mortgage papers, deeds and a floor plan. Also included are deeds issued by the Canada Company. Other records include marriage licenses and certificates, an adoption agreement, a bankruptcy notice, and wills.
