John Black Aird fonds

Fonds consists of records created and accumulated by John Black Aird.

The majority of the records document Aird's activities as Lieutenant Governor of Ontario from 1980 to 1985. These records include: 32 scrapbooks documenting official visits and ceremonies. Of these, 27 scrapbooks contain a chronological compilation of newspaper clippings. Later clippings are carefully marked as to the source newspaper and date, whereas earlier ones are not consistently labelled. Interspersed throughout these scrapbooks are photographs, some of which appear in the newspaper clippings. Four (4) other scrapbooks contain photographs, not all of which are identified. In many instances the photographer is unknown, although some photographs are marked or have an accompanying letter identifying the photographer. The last scrapbook is entitled A Royal Celebration and documents the visit of the Queen to Ontario in 1984.

The remaining records document Aird's activities as Senator (1964-1974), Chancellor at Wilfred Laurier University, Chairman of the Institute for Research on Public Policy, and meeting of the Permanent Joint Board on Defence (PJBD). These include: 2 photo albums, and 2 scrapbooks of which one contains the Debates of the Senate which documents speeches made by Aird as a member of the Senate.

Arved Soosaar fonds

Fonds consists of architectural and technical drawings created and accumulated by Arved Soosaar as an employee of Principal Investments Limited and as an independent architect. Fonds also includes architectural drawings created by Soosaar's students in the architecture program at Ryerson Polytechnical Institute.

Buildings depicted in the fonds include shopping centres, strip malls, low-rise apartment and office buildings, hotels, and residential buildings. The projects are mainly in the Toronto area with some located elsewhere in Southern Ontario. Projects include: shopping centres in Thistletown, Streetsville, Whitby, Scarborough, Cooksville, Brockville, and Smiths Falls; Ryerson Polytechnical Institute's City Hall Campus (Toronto); offices for Carswell Company Limited (Toronto) and Patterson Springs (Etobicoke); and the International Airport Hotel (Toronto), among others.

Projects by Soosaar's students consist of proposed plans for community centres at Regent Park and Alexandra Park, Toronto.

Fonds includes speeches, subject files, correspondence, and briefing materials.

Matthew Dymond fonds

Fonds consists of typed copies of outgoing correspondence sent by Matthew Dymond to friends and constituents during his tenure as a Member of Provincial Parliament in Ontario.

This fonds was donated to the Archives of Ontario in April 1988 by Matthew Dymond, along with Ministry of Health, Minster's Files transferred to RG 10 (accessioned separately as Accession Number 21480).

Ezequiel Silva fonds

Fonds consists of correspondence, clippings, financial, and legal records pertaining to the work of the Organizational Committee for the 25th Anniversary of the Portuguese Community in Canada.

Fonds also includes two die casts of the 25th Anniversary Medallion and a promotional button.

Duncan and Katherine Cameron family fonds

The fonds predominately consists of correspondence and genealogical information relating to Duncan and Katherine Cameron and their family. The records capture family information over three generations.

Some of the earliest records in the fonds documents Duncan and Katherine (Baillie) Cameron's early experiences and observations following their arrival in Upper Canada in 1835. The fonds includes correspondence regarding their family home in York Mills, "Lindally", which they had built in 1836 and named after their home in Scotland. Correspondence discusses topics such as the harvest and agriculture, Duncan Cameron's financial affairs and the Cameron's family life in York Mills, Upper Canada. The correspondence also touches on the political climate at the time including the Upper Canada Rebellion of 1837 and Duncan Cameron's views on the "radical Yankees", as well as his opinions on Lord Durhams' Report on the Affairs of British North America released in 1839.

Additional textual records in the fonds consist of correspondence from Archibal Cameron, Donald Cameron and Dr. Kenneth Cameron, typed transcripts of family correspondence prepared by Colonel Kenneth Cameron (ca. 1914), genealogical charts of the Camerons of Erracht and related families, Camerons of the Clunes and the Camerons of Camisky, Scotland and Lindally, marriage notices, legal documents and newspaper clippings.

The fonds also include photographs, maps and drawings accumulated and maintained by the Cameron family.

For the most part, the fonds is arranged in the original order retained by the donor.
