Biographical history
Jewel Lodge #42 was a Masonic organization established in Antigonish. The Masonic motto is Brotherly Love, Relief and Truth! It encourages good men to become better men by promoting a life devoted to high ideals, community service and benevolence. Men of every race and religion became Freemasons. Each has a personal belief in a supreme being and a determination to conduct himself in a manner that will earn the respect and trust of others.
Custodial history
The material was donated to the Antigonish Heritage Museum in 2005 after it had been discovered in the Kirk Building, Main St., Antigonish during renovations. Immediate custodial history is unknown.
Scope and content
Fonds consists of a number of documents related to the Jewel Lodge organization and its activity in the Antigonish area. Included are a semi-annual report, financial papers, receipts, and certificates.
