Scope and content

The fonds consists of photographs of town buildings taken in 1995 and used in the first two Athabasca Walking Tour booklets; and the unveiling of the 40th anniversary plaque for the Pottery Club on the Brick School in 2002. The 1911 photograph of Strathcona Street was purchased by Miriam Mol from e-bay in 2005. There are programs for Athabasca Players productions (Old Boots, The Day Jake Made Her Rain), Athabasca Dance Society (The Olde Toy Shoppe), 1994 Rural Roots sale of works by artists and artisans, and the 1994 (17th) Annual Convocation at Athabasca University. A photo was taken in June, 2006 of five students who attended Toles School in Amber Valley. Eight photographs dated August 29, 2006 show the demolition of the James Taylor house, built in 1918. 36 photographs were taken of the town buildings and views in the Fall of 2008. 60 photographs taken in 2009 include subjects: Conrad Biernacki digging clay in the Tawatinaw River valley, pieces from the Athabasca Clay Products collection at the Athabasca Archives, hanging flower baskets and floral displays in downtown Athabasca, the George Spence Sr. brick house and Amber Valley's 100th anniversary. Photographs from 2010 and 2011 include: signage change on the Alberta Provincial Building, demolition of the Athabasca Medical Centre, June 2011 flood of the Athabasca River, and Athabasca's 100th Anniversary Homecoming on July 29-31, 2011 which include Paula Evans, Donald Gambler, Bill Joseph Cardinal and Alfred Beaver. There are photos of the Sept.2011 100th anniversary of hospitals in Athabasca (Lyle Lewis, Joy MacComb and Dr.Roger Morrill), the highway 55/813 interchange, and the Christmas Craft Show (Marilyn Mol, Bob Tannas). The artifacts are 20 glass telephone insulators collected and purchased over time.
