Milo Library Archives
The Milo Library Archives came into existence in November 2007 for the sole purpose of acquiring and preserving the documentation of local history. As a branch of the overall services provided by Milo Library, these community archives provide a centrally located record of material deemed significant to Milo history and worthy of preserving for future generations.
A new Library building was built and moved into in November 2007 with an Archive Room being part of the design. The Library Board owns the room, but the Friends of Milo Municipal Library lease the room from the Board. In 2011 the Milo Lions Club created the Milo Lions Archivist Fellowship and have contributed funding to hire a student to work in the Archives each summer since then.
The mandate of the Milo Library Archives is to acquire and preserve records of historic and cultural value to the Village of Milo and surrounding community, to make these materials available to the public in a variety of formats.
The Milo Library Archives is administered by the Milo Library Board with oversight by the Friends of the Milo Municipal Library Society.
Milo Library Archives acquires material created in and/or directly concerning the geographically defined area known as Snake Valley, particularly the boundaries formerly identified as Marquis Municipality.
The Milo Library Archives is located in the Friends of the Milo Library Archive Room within the Milo Library.
