Biographical history

The Order of the Eastern Star was founded in 1876. The Athabasca Chapter No. 17 of the Order of the Eastern Star was formed in Athabasca in 1914 as a women's auxiliary organization to the local chapter of the Freemasons. The chapter's primary purpose was to raise money for local charities. The Athabasca chapter ceased operations in 1999.
