Scope and content

Fonds consists of correspondence of Irene Parlby (1899-1966); Beatrice (Bee) Parlby (ca. 1920-1989); Walter Parlby (1872-1945); and Humphrey Parlby (1909-1965). Included are Bee Parlby's diaries (1930-1986); the journal's of Humphrey Parlby (1927-1932), as well as financial records for both Walter and Irene, and Humphrey and Bee Parlby. There is a significant amount of Farmers' Union of Alberta and Farm Women's Union of Alberta records (1940-1970); as well as material used by Bee Parlby in her various teaching positions (ca. 1945-1970); articles, talks, and speeches given by Irene Parlby (1930-1956), and assorted newspaper clippings (ca. 1899-1985). Included also is Irene Parlby's honorary Doctorate of Laws degree she received from the University of Alberta in 1935, and material regarding Bee Parlby's induction to the Alberta Agricultural Hall of Fame in 1987. Fonds consists of seven series: 1) Irene Parlby; 2) Beatrice (Bee) Parlby; 3) Humphrey Parlby; 4) Walter Parlby; 5) Farmers' Union of Alberta and Farm Women's Union of Alberta; 6) Other Organizations; and 7) Published Materials.
