Saanich Archives
The Saanich Archives collects and preserves archival material relating to the Municipality of Saanich, including Clerk's Office and other municipal files; biographical information on former elected officials and long service employees; documentation and memorabilia relating to families who have featured in the formative years of the municipality; photographs, family albums, slides, negatives and postcards from the earliest days of the municipality to recent times; maps and plans including residential and commercial structures, sketch plans of proposed additions and outbuildings, subdivisions, and public works proposals; and ephemera. The archives also conducts oral history interviews of long term residents; acquires books and other publications which contribute to better knowledge of the area in general and to the municipality in particular; produces or assists in producing publications relating to Saanich; and services the research requirements of local municipal government and committees as well as the public, and provides copy and reference service.
